Murugan statue image-prince of yogis [Ss-MpY]

Murugan statue image. Murugan [or Karyikeya] is the younger brother of Ganesh, son of Shiva. His chariot is the peacock and his weapon in battle is the spear. According to some legends, Shiva's spark was so bright and luminous that only Agni, god of Fire, could carry it. Agni deposited the spark, according to Shiva's directions, in the Ganges river. The Ganga then nourished the spark, causing a living being, Murugan, to spring from it. He is known as the Hindu God who is the prince of yogis; the prince of tapasya. It is for Murugan that many of the tapasya and fire walking festivals are held in his honour. 'When we are firmly established in nonviolence, all beings around us cease to feel hostility.
