Kali is black, naked and emaciated. Her face is azure, streaked with yellow, her glance is ferocious; her disheveled and bristly hair is shown splayed and braided with serpents. She wears a long necklace of human skulls . Her lips are shown streaming with blood; and her tongue lolls out. She is shown standing on the inert form of her consort, Shiva,with many images of her killing demons in the background.
